CAN YOU PICTURE THIS

While driving by The Good Will store, on my way to Basha's,  I saw something very odd.

The first thing I noticed were legs.  A lot of naked leg showing, but not nice legs.  Lots of leg, sticking out of some Daisy dukes shorts.  Really really short shorts.  Then I noticed the white hair, like an old persons hair, but not female.  Then I notice the 4 inch platform heals.
I was confused.
What is that walking pass my car?  Is it a man?  Yes.  Is it a really old man?  Yes.  Is it dressed like Daisy from Dukes of Hazards?  Yes.
What the. . .
I almost wanted to take his picture. But was so confused, I couldn't.
So you just have to imagine it in your own minds.

Here's something to help you visualize.

Just imagine a small 70 year old man wearing this.
I think he even had some big jingly earrings in too.

PIONEER HERITAGE

I was forwarded this email from my dad who got it from my uncle.  He is my dad's little brother.  He talks about some of our families history.
I just love hearing and learning about my families history stories.
I know there are many more.
When I read about my strong and faithful heritage, I can't help but think that this is one good reason why I have such a strong testimony and faith in Jesus Christ and his church.  It is in my genes.

Dear Family,
In
Sunday School today we discussed the Willie and Martin handcart companies and how the mission of the church is still to rescue.  I am sure that you all will remember that our great grandfather Peter Winward was one of the rescuers.  I have never read his journal, I don't know if there is one, but Grandma Martell told me that he did that.  I had looked in several places where there was a listing of those who went to the rescue and did not see his name, but there is a newer book that has a lot of pictures where he is listed.

Of note is that Kathy's grandfather Glen Kempton's mother's name was Sena Peterson.  Her grandfather, Jens O. Peterson and his wife and seven family members, were among those rescued.  A handcart story that you don't often hear told in church is as follows.  Incidentally, all 9 of the Peterson's survived the trip.  Grandpa Jens told of having one of the men in their company, and I am sorry but I don't recall if it was the Willie or Martin company, sat on a rock as they were to move out one morning.  He said, "I can go no further and I will just die here."  Pleading and encouragement could not get the brother to get up and move.  Finally Jens tried to coax him go get up and keep moving.  Words made no difference.  Grandpa Jens said, "Well as long as you are going to stay here, there is something I have been meaning to do for a long time,"  and
Grandpa hauled off and slapped the man and then ran to catch up with his family.  The worn our brother was surprised, then mad and chased after Grandpa Peterson.  The brother continued on and when they arrived in SLC, he thanked Grandpa Jens Peterson for saving his life.

Eliza Jenkins, Grandpa James Martell's mother, was also in a handcart company.  I looked to see if I had the journal that Dad gave me, but I think I gave it back.  Eliza was the oldest daughter of Morris and Margaret Jenkins.  Thomas Charles Martell was 35 when he married Eliza when she was 16.  He already had a brick house in
Spanish Fork when they were married.  It is of interest to me that Morris Jenkins was upset with the church because of polygamy.  He made Thomas promise that he would never practice polygamy as a condition of letting his daughter marry him.  The Jenkins then left Utah, and the church and moved to the Sacramento area.  Our grandpa James went to California to visit his grandmother.  As I remember, he also served his mission in that area a baptized some of his Jenkins cousins into the church.

Just a little historic ramblings from thoughts I have had after the lesson today.

PRIMARY PROGRAM

Today I can give a big sigh  of relief.  We  had our Primary Program today in Sacrament meeting. And our Primary did awesome!!!

I am the Primary chorister. The primary program is a big deal cause the songs we’ve been teaching the whole year, they get to perform.

Even though the kids had to learn 9 new songs, they knew all the songs very well and sung so good and loud.  The last song they sang was a medley of three songs, which were I Feel My Saviors Love, Jesus is My Shepard (one from the Friend), and Beautiful Savior.  Avery got to sing a small solo in it, which she sounded just like an angel doing. There were also 7 other solo parts and a harmony line in the last verse. It was soooo good.

One of my favorite songs I got to teach them was There is Sunshine In My Soul Today.  I also taught them the sign language for that one.  We got to choose two songs this year  with the Savior as the subject.  I did this one and the medley.  It was so cute to hear all the kids singing and doing the signs to there is sunshine in my soul today.  They learned all verses to that one too.

Now that the program is over, I get to teach them MY favorite primary songs for the rest of the year.

I love this calling. I think it is so important, cause the kids will ALWAYS remember the gospel through their primary songs. And I get to teach them some. It makes me happy.

I also love that all the primary kids know who I am.  That is fun too.

CABIN IN STRAWBERRY

We decided to get out of this heat for a little while, so we headed up to the mountains.
My family has a cabin in Strawberry.  It was my grandparents cabin and when I'm there I can't help but remember them.  I love that.
I invited my sister in laws family, with her three cute boys.  My other sister in law has a cabin up in Pine, which is just a few minutes away, so we got to play at both places.
My girls loved every minute of it.
They love playing with there cousins.
It rained a little but then cleared up.  It was absolutely gorgeous outside.

Lainey and her cousin are best buds.
Jolie loves playing on any stairs.  Morgan stays real close, cause she has fallen down stairs before, which was not a fun experience.  (she stopped breathing and I had to call 911, on our california trip. not fun)
My in laws  playing the never ending game of monopoly.  We played lots of games.
My sister in law making everyone brownies.
My girls standing in front of the cabin.

They all just loved going outside and exploring nature.
I think my kids were "outside deprived" before we got there.
Avery hangin out with her best bud in the fort up the mountain.  The tree above the fort had tons of caterpillars all over it.  They liked to collect them.
We all took turns swinging on the giant swing. Me included.

SCHOOL WORK

I was organizing the girls school work from last year.  Getting rid of stuff and saving the good stuff.  Here's some of the good stuff.

This is a family picture Avery drew.
(I couldn't get it turned the right way.)
Here's Lainey's self portrait.  Love the hair accessories and all the teeth.  And the uncountable fingers.  She drew this in Pre-K.
She is LOVING kindergarden.
Here are some poems Avery wrote.  I think they are very cleaver. She wrote these at the beginning of 2nd grade.
They make me smile.
Here are some of Lainey's art work.  Notice the uniform rainbow affect.  I have no idea why she does this.  She just likes all the colors I guess.

HAND MADE HAIR KNOT

I posted earlier about how Jolie twirls her hair.  Now it is longer and she seems to do it even more often.  I take out about 5 knots a day.  Luckily I haven't had to cut any out.
Whenever we leave the house I get it wet, use some de-tangler spray and brush it nice and pretty.  Within just a few minutes in the car, she's made another knot.

Here's a fancy one she did the other day.

Morgan doesn't understand why I take pictures of things like this.
When I was taking these pictures, he asked me why?  I said to blog about it.  He just shook his head, not understanding.

SOMETIMES

It's almost like she thinks eating is boring.

Sometimes I take lots of pictures to try to get the perfect shot and I get her with her eyes closed.
